We are currently seeking an M&E Design Manager in Warrington to lead design coordination and technical delivery across a busy portfolio of building services projects. This is a senior role for someone who can take ownership of the design process from early concept through to construction support, ensuring solutions are coordinated, compliant, buildable and commercially sensible. You'll work closely with pre-construction, commercial and operations teams to reduce design risk early and keep projects moving at pace.
About the Company: Our client is a well-established engineering services contractor delivering mechanical and electrical building services projects across multiple sectors. They have a strong pipeline and are strengthening their design leadership function to maintain quality, consistency and effective collaboration between design, pre-construction and delivery teams.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Leading M&E design delivery from concept through to detailed design and construction support
- Managing design programmes, deliverables, and design risk to protect programme and commercial position
- Coordinating internal and external design resource, including consultants and specialist supply chain designers
- Driving buildability reviews and value engineering, ensuring the design supports efficient installation
- Reviewing and approving drawings, calculations, specifications, schedules and equipment selections
- Chairing design meetings and workshops, ensuring actions are tracked and closed
- Managing technical queries, RFIs and design change control throughout the project lifecycle
- Working with BIM/CAD teams to ensure coordination, clash resolution and tidy document control
- Supporting tender activity where required with technical input, scope clarification and handover documentation
- Ensuring commissioning, O&M information and handover requirements are considered early and captured properly
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in M&E design management or senior building services design (contractor or consultancy background)
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and how they interface on site
- Confident managing design programmes, stakeholders, and competing priorities
- Solid knowledge of UK regulations and industry standards
- Comfortable working in BIM-coordinated environments (Revit experience beneficial)
- Strong communication skills with a practical, solutions-led approach
- Organised and detail-focused, with strong document control habits
- Degree / HND / HNC in Building Services Engineering (or equivalent experience)
