The Opportunity
Our client is an award-winning electrical contractor based in the North West with a strong in-house design capability and a track record of delivering across a broad range of sectors. They are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their design team on a permanent basis, working out of their Ashton-under-Lyne office. This is a well-established design function with a varied workload, and the role offers genuine technical breadth across project types. What You’ll Be Doing
- Producing electrical design drawings, schematics and specifications for building services packages
- Carrying out lighting calculations, power distribution design and cable sizing
- Supporting design and build tenders with technical input and design deliverables
- Coordinating with project managers, mechanical engineers and main contractors
- Attending site visits and design meetings as required
- Ensuring all designs comply with BS 7671 (18th Edition) and relevant British Standards
- Reviewing and commenting on third-party design submissions
What We’re Looking For
- Proven background in electrical design within a building services or M&E contracting environment
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one design calculation package such as Amtech, Trimble, Dialux or Relux
- HNC, HND or degree-level qualification in electrical engineering or building services
- Up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671 and relevant British Standards
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with clients, consultants and site teams
- Comfortable working across a varied mix of project types and sectors
