Ravensbourne University London is a dynamic institution at the intersection of creativity, business, and technology. Based in London’s Design District in the heart of North Greenwich, we are home to a diverse, global community located in one of the world’s most vibrant business and creative hubs. We have an exciting and growing portfolio of business programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and are seeking innovative and engaging candidates who are eager to develop future creative leaders.

You won’t find a traditional lecture theatre at Ravensbourne, but you will find a range of fluid teaching spaces where collaboration and experimentation are encouraged, and where learning happens through practice as much as theory.

The Role

We are expanding our pool of Sessional Lecturers across our business subject areas. These are hourly paid, and work-from-home, hybrid, and/or on campus roles where you will work closely and collaboratively with our permanent course teams. You will contribute to teaching, marking and supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students through the following activities:

  • Teaching across a range of business management subjects including marketing, finance, operations and project management, professional practice, organizational behaviour, and research methods
  • Supporting students through assessment retrievals
  • Providing academic guidance and mentorship to students
  • Marking retrieval assessments
  • Assisting with partner marking and moderation processes

The Candidate

You will enjoy teaching and working with students on a one‑to‑one basis, supporting them to succeed through thoughtful academic guidance and meaningful, developmental comments, using feedback as a key tool to tutor, motivate, and guide students towards successful outcomes. You will be someone who inspires students through inclusive and creative teaching methods, is comfortable working at pace, and enjoys being part of a collaborative course team. You will have experience of teaching, marking, moderation and assessment experience in a UK university environment, and ideally will also have experience as a personal tutor at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.

Join Our Team

We value a broad range of skills and experiences and welcome applications from those with teaching, assessment marking and partner moderation experience. Across the range of sessional roles, we provide clear briefings and practical support to help you get started and feel confident in your teaching and assessment responsibilities. We recognise the importance of work‑life balance and offer flexible working options wherever possible. We are open to discussions around availability and working days. We are committed to inclusive, supportive education and encourage applications from all backgrounds.

About You

You have:

  • A creative approach to preparing and delivering teaching content
  • An ability to work as part of a large teaching team and where needed independently
  • A responsive approach to student needs from a range of backgrounds including international students.

How to Apply

Attendance at a compulsory training session to help you prepare for the role. Provide an up‑to‑date CV and complete some basic questions in our applications portal. Closing date for application is 29th May 2026.

We are operating a rolling programme of recruitment, and we will initially screen CVs and contact those with experience in areas we need additional teaching cover. You will be interviewed initially on Teams. You will then be invited to attend a session to meet members of the course team. For marking‑focused roles, shortlisted candidates may be required to complete a short marking exercise prior to interview, using anonymised student work and provided marking guidance. This allows us to assess the quality of feedback, accuracy of marking, and overall approach to assessment. Performance in this exercise may inform whether candidates are progressed to interview.

All candidates will be required to demonstrate their right to work in the UK as part of the onboarding process. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities, and in particular those that are currently under‑represented in our workforce. This includes, but is not limited to, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates, candidates with disabilities, and female candidates. At Ravensbourne, we are committed to supporting applicants with disabilities. We offer interviews to those who declare a disability and meet the essential criteria for the role. In situations where we receive a high volume of applications, we will prioritise interviewing those disabled applicants who most closely align with the minimum requirements.
