Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and reliable Driver to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of trucks to deliver roofing and building supplies across multiple locations. Your enthusiasm for driving and commitment to excellent service will ensure timely deliveries, proper load handling, and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities

• Ensuring goods are loaded, secured, and unloaded safely, sometimes involving manual lifting or operating vehicle equipment.
• Inspect vehicles regularly to ensure they are in optimal condition and report any maintenance issues promptly.
• Assist with securing loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Driving 26T rigid crane vehicles over long or short distances while adhering to road traffic laws, speed limits, and strict delivery schedules.
• Maintaining accurate digital tachograph records, driving hours, and delivery paperwork (PODs).
• Reporting delays, accidents, or vehicle faults to transport managers, and providing professional customer service at delivery points.
• Conducting daily pre-trip vehicle walk-around checks, including checking tyres, brakes, and fuel, to ensure vehicles are roadworthy.
• Maintaining a clean and organised vehicle interior and exterior at all times.

Experience

• Delivery driver experience involving loading and unloading in a variety of commercial and residential situations.
• Slingers/Signallers certificate of competence.
• Knowledge of route planning and navigation for efficient deliveries.
• Use of Mobile Electronic Proof of Delivery Systems (EPODs).

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 7am to 4.30pm

Yard Worker / Driver Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our yard area, often involving tasks like loading and unloading deliveries, managing inventory, operating yard equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks), performing general maintenance, and ensuring the yard is safe and accessible to customers, all while adhering to safety regulations; this role typically requires physical strength and stamina for manual labour activities like lifting and moving heavy materials.

Key responsibilities of a yard worker may include

• Loading and unloading deliveries: Receiving and unloading materials from trucks and trailers, including checking for damage and verifying quantities.
• Inventory management: Keeping track of stock levels in the yard, ensuring proper storage and organization of materials.
• Yard maintenance: Cleaning and tidying the yard, removing debris, sweeping, and maintaining a safe working environment.
• Operating yard equipment: Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move materials around the yard.
• Customer service: Assisting customers with loading materials, answering questions about products, and maintaining positive customer interactions.
• Safety compliance: Following all safety procedures and reporting any hazards or accidents.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in materials handling and warehouse operations.
• Proficiency in forklift operation.
• Experience in shipping and receiving, including loading and unloading materials.
• Background in Roofing knowledge is a plus.

Driver: From time to time, the role will also involve covering van deliveries. Applicants must therefore hold a full UK driving licence and be confident driving a 3.5 tonne multidrop delivery van. Experience handling multiple daily drops is highly beneficial; however, a friendly and customer-focused attitude is essential.
