The Opportunity

Our client, an established M&E engineering specialist based in Warrington, is looking for an M&E Planner to join their team, with genuine flexibility on the level of the right person. This could suit a Trainee or Assistant Planner looking to build a career in M&E planning with proper support around them, or someone already working as a planner who wants to develop further within a technically demanding sector. You would support or lead, depending on experience, the development and maintenance of project programmes across the delivery cycle, from construction through to commissioning and handover. Much of the clients work is carried out within industrial and live production facilities, where shutdown windows, process constraints and access make realistic planning both harder and more valuable, which makes it a genuinely strong environment to develop in. It is a permanent role in Warrington, £45,000 to £60,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package.

About the Business

Our client is a well-established M&E engineering specialist with national reach and a strong North-West base. They design, build and maintain highly serviced, controlled and process-critical facilities, with mechanical, electrical, design and estimating capability all held in-house. Their Warrington operation works predominantly across industrial, food and drink, FMCG, pharmaceutical and process environments, much of it within live production facilities where the engineering has to accommodate hygiene standards, process constraints, shutdown windows and strict compliance. It is a technically demanding end of the market and a long way from standard commercial building services. Accreditations include ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Design, estimating and delivery sit together in-house, so the technical teams work closely rather than at arms length from one another.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing and maintaining construction and commissioning programmes using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
  • Working alongside experienced planners and project teams, with the level of ownership matched to your experience
  • Producing short-term look-ahead programmes to give site teams clear, practical direction
  • Tracking actual progress against plan and supporting or leading weekly programme updates
  • Identifying programme risks and contributing to how they are mitigated
  • Planning work within live production and process environments, including shutdown windows
  • Working closely with project, site, design and commercial teams to keep programmes accurate
  • Developing your planning capability and commercial awareness, with support from senior colleagues where needed

What We're Looking For

  • Suited to a Trainee, Assistant or intermediate M&E Planner; this is not a Senior Planner appointment
  • Some planning experience or exposure, or a strong site, engineering, M&E or coordination background you want to move into planning from
  • A genuine interest in building or continuing a career in M&E or construction planning
  • A practical understanding of how construction or M&E projects come together on site
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project; Primavera P6 experience is a bonus
  • Well organised, numerate and comfortable working with detail
  • Clear communication and a collaborative approach, comfortable working across project teams
  • Full UK driving licence

What's on Offer

  • £45,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
  • Full company benefits package
  • Genuine flexibility on level, with the role and salary shaped around the right person
  • The chance to develop in a technically demanding sector where good planning really matters
  • Experienced planners and project teams around you to learn from
