What you'll achieve in the role
As our Rent and Service Charge Accountant, you'll ensure the organisation meets its regulatory obligations by delivering accurate, compliant rent and service charge setting every year. You'll lead the financial calculations behind rent changes, oversee service charge estimates and reconciliations, and make sure new developments are fully aligned with the Rent Standard and legislation. Your work will keep regulatory returns on time, strengthen audit readiness, and give the business confidence that every charge is transparent, defensible, and compliant.
Key responsibilities include
- Lead on the annual review of rent setting and service charges in line with sector standards
- Recommend annual changes to the rent and service charges made
- To lead on the financial calculation and production of annual rent changes
- Lead on the setting of rents for new developments
- Lead on Raven's rent convergence project
- Lead in producing the annual fixed and variable service charge estimates for rented properties
- Lead in the annual reconciliation of the actuals for the variable service charges and the calculation of the year-end adjustment for tenants and homeowners
- Lead in the production of the Annual Statistical Data Return
What you'll bring to Raven
- CCAB qualified
- Practical knowledge of leading of Rent and Service Charge setting
- Experience working as part of a Finance Team
- Good understanding of the Section 20 Process
- Able to develop and maintain good relationships with external and internal contacts
- Ability to make informed decisions and give clear advice
- Ability to communicate financial and procurement data to non-financial users
- Well organised with effective time management, project management skills and able to manage priorities
- Social housing experience is essential
- DBS clearance will be required for this role.
