My client is a leading Civils company, and they have a requirement for a Site Engineer on the HS2 project. This role will support delivery of a BBV‑controlled HS2 civils package by ensuring works are accurately set out, compliant with design and quality requirements, and fully recorded within the project’s assurance systems. The role is site-based and delivery-focused, with responsibility for:
- Setting out and survey control
- Quality assurance through ITPs
- As-built records and documentation
This is a hands-on engineering role within a Tier 1, audit-driven environment, not a purely design or office-based position.
Duties:
- Carry out accurate setting out of works in accordance with approved drawings and IFC information.
- Ensure survey control points are established and maintained.
- All setting out is checked and verified.
- Work strictly in line with permit and safety requirements before commencing any setting out activities.
- Undertake as-built surveys of completed works.
- Maintain survey records and Quality Record Packs (QRP).
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with Approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Raise ITPs where required and ensure hold points and witness points are met.
- Record inspections, tests, and results.
- Ensure all quality documentation is complete, accurate, and traceable.
- Support and operate within site permit systems, including Permit to Break Ground and Temporary Works permits.
- Ensure no work starts without correct permits and approvals, and that all permit requirements and controls are implemented.
- Assist with daily permit checks and close-out of permits.
- Identify discrepancies between design and site conditions.
- Support raising of Field Change Requests (FCRs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Ensure no change is implemented without approval, and all changes are recorded and reflected in as-built data.
- Use BBV systems to record and manage information, including DALUX / DDD for inspections, NCRs, QA records, and Business Collaborator (BC) for document submissions.
- Ensure site records are maintained daily and information is auditable and compliant.
- Work closely with Site Manager, Supervisors, Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC), and QA / HSE teams.
- Support daily site activities, method statement implementation, and coordination of works on site.
Requirements:
- Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering or similar.
- Experience as a Site Engineer on civils or infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in setting out, surveying, and as-built production.
- Experience working under principal contractor systems and QA / ITP-driven environments.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience on HS2 or Tier 1 infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of ITP processes and quality assurance, permit systems (PTW, PTBG), utility surveys, and site controls.
