About the role

In this role you will develop investment business and ensure good client outcomes by building strong relationships, managing client portfolios and contributing to the growth of the firm. The role involves leading client relationships, delivering excellent service, and actively participating in business development, mentoring, and internal initiatives. It marks progression from the Associate role, with increased autonomy, strategic input, and commercial awareness and impact. We are looking for a team player who will work closely with existing Senior Investment Directors, overseeing clients who have more invested with us than is typical across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility to seek excellent client outcomes through proactive service, management of portfolios, and suitability oversight.
  • Lead client relationships and ensure timely, high‑quality interactions, communication and documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external professional contacts to deliver holistic wealth solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with Rathbones Financial Planning, Portfolio Management and other internal services.
  • Ensure investment portfolios aligned with client objectives and market conditions.
  • Thorough understanding of Rathbones investment process, conduct additional research and analysis to support client requirements and outcomes.
  • Maintain strong understanding of Rathbones proposition, commercial awareness of the wider market and clear knowledge of the regulatory framework.
  • Evidence growth of client book in line with firm strategy, as well as personal business development plan and pipeline of new opportunities.
  • Refine own Rathbones pitch, being able to deliver with confidence and clarity.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and contribute to the firm’s growth initiatives.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, sharing expertise and fostering development.
  • Actively participate in internal forums and be prepared to contribute to committees and business projects as required.
  • Promote a collaborative culture and uphold the firm’s values and standards.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in investment management, including managing client portfolios.
  • Demonstrated success in client service and business development.
  • Level 7 qualification (CISI Chartered Wealth Manager preferred) and Level 4 IAD qualification.
  • Strong and well‑established client and investment management skills.
  • Proficiency in research, analysis, and IT systems.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to identify growth opportunities.
  • Client‑centric mindset with integrity and professionalism.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach to team and firm initiatives.
  • Ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Active listening and adaptability.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and feedback.
  • Experience in client administration and regulatory compliance.
