The Head of Equities role is responsible for the development and communication of the investment policies, contribution to business strategy, management and development of the equities investment team. This role will report directly to the CEO of Rathbones Asset Management (RAM) and will sit on the Exco.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Lead a team, sharing information and ideas.
  • Monitoring and assessing investment data, taking appropriate action as required.
  • Lead voice on asset class for RAM as spokesperson to the external market.
  • Design and shape the team to focus on succession and talent development of analyst pool.
  • Ensure alignment on business initiatives are rolled out in the front office.
  • Build a robust training programme for all levels of talent within RAM focusing on Investment Process, Communication (analyst meetings, news and clients).
  • Enhancing the messaging on RAM, the funds and products within RAM.
  • Helping develop new product ideas to create scalable products that meet client needs.
  • Maintain and develop good relationships with brokers, professional advisers and other relevant organisations.
  • Carry out necessary market research to ensure investment and technical knowledge is maintained.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge and adherence to current regulatory requirements.
  • Building improved contacts with key (potential) clients in order to develop new business.
  • Communicate effectively and work with the Infrastructure Team to action strategic new capabilities or resolve matters that fund managers/analysts might have.
  • Report to senior management any concerns relating to improper business practice, e.g. insider dealing, market manipulation, money laundering etc.
  • Contribute towards the continued development of the Group by participating in strategic projects, committees, presentations and other activities as requested from time to time.
  • Be responsible for the management of risk in accordance with the company’s risk appetite statement and ensure adherence to the risk management policy and procedures alongside the Investment Risk Director.
  • Board reporting and analysis of fund range for both Exco, RAM and various group boards.
  • Work with distribution to ensure investments are providing the right level of support to existing and new clients.

  • Champion for the asset class in the wider Group and industry.
  • Challenge fund managers and analysts in their thinking to improve outcomes for clients.
  • PR training and experience.
  • Effective cascading of information from ExCo through the team, and from the team up to Exco to ensure BAU issues and project work summaries are communicated clearly.
  • Ability to connect with colleagues at different levels.
