Role Title: Graduate Stewardship Analyst
Department: RIM Research
Contract Type: Permanent
The Role
Joining a team of six, the successful candidate will have experience in ESG issues with a strong interest in starting a career in responsible investment and stewardship. They will join in a new role to become part of an award-winning team within a newly combined, successful FTSE 250 business with over ÂŁ100bn of assets under management.
Outcomes of the Role
- Overseeing consistent and informed proxy voting activities, ensuring timely execution of proxy votes at a target list of companies according to Rathbones’ proxy voting policy.
- Supporting the team in engagement tracking and working with more senior members of the team on selected thematic engagements.
- Supporting the team in preparing reports for major external benchmarks (PRI, FRC).
- Providing secretariat support for the Responsible Investment Governance infrastructure (curating minutes, agendas, and action logs for two committees focused on engagement and corporate governance).
- Overseeing systems providing support to investment managers and their teams in new business and client retention.
- Aiding the continual development of Rathbones’ Responsible Investment Policy, researching new areas of ESG risk and opportunity.
Knowledge & Experience
In addition to at least one year’s work experience since leaving university you will have / be:
- Interest and understanding of Responsible Investing, ESG, and the Wealth Management industry
- A broad understanding of financial markets, including equities, funds, and fixed income
- A broad knowledge of wider ESG and sustainability themes and issues
- Commitment to team culture
- The ability to manage complex information with an eye for detail
- Strong numerical skills
- Strong IT skills including proficiency with Excel an advantage
- A motivated self-starter that is organised and proactive
- Results and detail oriented
- Committed to working with others in the Research Team to implement our Responsible Investment Policy
- A degree in a relevant subject (law, finance, economics, and business)
- Degree or post-graduate level education in a relevant ESG or sustainability subject
