Role Title: Graduate Stewardship Analyst

Department: RIM Research

Contract Type: Permanent

The Role

Joining a team of six, the successful candidate will have experience in ESG issues with a strong interest in starting a career in responsible investment and stewardship. They will join in a new role to become part of an award-winning team within a newly combined, successful FTSE 250 business with over £100bn of assets under management.

Outcomes of the Role

1. Overseeing consistent and informed proxy voting activities, ensuring timely execution of proxy votes at a target list of companies according to Rathbones’ proxy voting policy.
2. Supporting the team in engagement tracking and working with more senior members of the team on selected thematic engagements.
3. Supporting the team in preparing reports for major external benchmarks (PRI, FRC).
4. Providing secretariat support for the Responsible Investment Governance infrastructure (curating minutes, agendas, and action logs for two committees focused on engagement and corporate governance).
5. Overseeing systems providing support to investment managers and their teams in new business and client retention.
6. Aiding the continual development of Rathbones’ Responsible Investment Policy, researching new areas of ESG risk and opportunity.

Knowledge & Experience

In addition to at least one year’s work experience since leaving university you will have / be:

1. Interest and understanding of Responsible Investing, ESG, and the Wealth Management industry
2. A broad understanding of financial markets, including equities, funds, and fixed income
3. A broad knowledge of wider ESG and sustainability themes and issues
4. Commitment to team culture
5. The ability to manage complex information with an eye for detail
6. Strong numerical skills
7. Strong IT skills including proficiency with Excel an advantage
8. A motivated self-starter that is organised and proactive
9. Results and detail oriented
10. Committed to working with others in the Research Team to implement our Responsible Investment Policy
11. A degree in a relevant subject (law, finance, economics, and business)
12. Degree or post-graduate level education in a relevant ESG or sustainability subject
