We are looking for a Business Development Director to lead on business development for strategic charity and endowments clients and their intermediaries. Build and establish long‑term relationships with prospective charitable clients and their advisers to develop and obtain new business for Rathbones Group across all product suites, pooled and discretionary.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Develop and deliver a business development plan in partnership with the Head of Charities Distribution.
- Undertake market analysis to ensure the plan is commercially viable.
- Develop a proactive comprehensive new business pipeline with ambitious gross inflow targets.
- Develop strategic plans in specific charity segments such as religious, education, armed forces.
- Lead conversion from inbound opportunities to notified wins.
- Work on proposals and pitching, including tender documents and presentations to trustee boards.
- Attend charity events and seminars.
- Lead creation, management, allocation and monitoring of potential new charity business.
- Coordinate pipeline reporting with Sales Support.
- Maintain CRM/MI systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with the CCO area on collateral and implementation of refreshed Charities proposition.
- Build relationships with client‑facing colleagues across Rathbones.
About you:
- Significant relationships across the charity sector, especially with Top 200 by AUM.
- Prior institutional sales and relationship management experience in mainstream asset management.
- Experience in ESG/Responsible Investing.
- High degree of investment knowledge and relevant qualifications (e.g., CFA, IMA).
- Market connections and strong product knowledge of the Charities industry.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to distill complex information into client‑friendly formats.
- Strong understanding of regulatory environment governing charitable investments.
