An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Professional Support / Knowledge Lawyer to join the UK legal function of a large organisation operating in the consumer financial services sector. The role focuses on strengthening legal and regulatory knowledge across the team and supporting the business in navigating a fast‑moving regulatory landscape.

Working closely with senior legal leadership, you will help shape and deliver an effective knowledge strategy that enhances legal capability, supports regulatory compliance, and contributes to positive customer outcomes. The environment is dynamic, with rapid developments across consumer credit, payments, digital services and wider regulatory frameworks. A proactive, structured approach to knowledge management is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Knowledge Strategy & Development: Create, maintain and distribute high‑quality legal knowledge resources for the legal team and relevant business areas. Cover established and emerging topics, including payments regulation, open banking, digital financial services and consumer credit.
  • Business-Facing Communications: Partner with Legal, Compliance and Risk teams to communicate legal and regulatory developments. Prepare concise updates, deliver briefings and support training initiatives for business stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and support a small team of subject‑matter experts. Foster professional development and ensure the team’s expertise is effectively leveraged across the wider legal function.
  • Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Monitor legal and regulatory changes affecting the customer journey, including consumer protection, payments, technology, cyber risk, competition law and related areas. Assess potential impacts and support strategic planning.
  • Training & Capability Building: Identify training needs within the legal team and the business. Design and deliver practical, accessible training on legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Policy & Strategic Input: Provide legal insight on areas of strategic importance, including engagement with regulatory or policy developments.
  • External Engagement: Liaise with industry bodies, professional associations and external advisers where appropriate.
  • Knowledge Systems & Processes: Develop and maintain systems for capturing, organising and sharing legal know‑how, including precedents, guidance and historical advice. Ensure resources are user‑friendly and easily accessible.
Candidate Profile
  • Qualified solicitor with approximately 5–10 years’ PQE (guideline only).
  • Experience within financial services or advising financial services clients.
  • Strong understanding of UK consumer credit and financial services regulation, ideally including the Consumer Credit Act, payment services and financial crime frameworks.
  • Experience in knowledge management or professional support roles is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop legal professionals.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex regulatory developments.
  • Excellent organisational skills and comfort operating in a fast‑changing regulatory environment.
  • Clear and adaptable communication style, capable of engaging a range of audiences.
  • Collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships across legal, risk, compliance and commercial teams.
  • Interest in using technology and digital tools to enhance knowledge sharing and legal service delivery.
Location & Working Model

This is a permanent role based in Nottingham, operating under a 3/2 hybrid working model that combines office collaboration with remote working.
