About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Data Steward to own and enhance the governance, quality, and integrity of enterprise data assets—specifically within the Policy and Underwriting domains. You’ll act as the bridge between business teams, data owners, and technology partners, ensuring data is consistently defined, well‑managed, and fully leveraged for regulatory, operational, and analytical needs. This role is ideal for someone who understands insurance data and enjoys bringing structure, clarity, and quality to complex data environments.

- Implement and maintain data governance frameworks, standards, and policies.
- Own business glossaries, data dictionaries, and metadata for key insurance data elements.
- Define and maintain standardised definitions for policy, risk, coverage, and underwriting attributes.
- Business Partnership
- Work closely with Underwriting, Operations, Risk, and Finance to understand data needs.
- Ensure consistent interpretation and use of policy and coverage data across reporting and analytics.
- Coordinate with system owners and data producers to resolve data issues.
- Data Lifecycle & Metadata
- Support documentation of data lineage across core insurance systems.
- Assist with classification and lifecycle management of Policy and Underwriting data assets.
- Ensure compliance with internal data policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance governance and data quality.
- Contribute to enterprise initiatives in data cataloguing, metadata management, and standardisation.
- Support broader data transformation and modernisation programmes.
- Data Quality Management
- Monitor and analyse data quality metrics across policy and underwriting datasets.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues with underwriting, operations, and technology teams.
- Define and implement validation rules, controls, and remediation processes.
What You Bring

- Experience with insurance data—ideally policy administration or underwriting.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and metadata management.
- Hands‑on experience with data catalogues or metadata tools.
- Technical Skills
- SQL or similar tools for data analysis and quality investigations.
- Familiarity with governance/metadata platforms (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.).
- Understanding of data lineage, MDM, and reference data concepts.
- Exposure to data warehouses and enterprise reporting environments.
- Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills—able to translate data concepts for business and technical audiences.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
- Education
- Degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
