Housing Benefit Support Officer

Westminster City Council is seeking an experienced Temporary Accommodation Housing Benefit Support Officer to join its Housing Services team.

This is an important role supporting residents living in temporary accommodation by ensuring housing benefit claims, subsidy processes and accommodation-related charges are administered accurately and efficiently.

You will work closely with Housing Benefit, Temporary Accommodation, Finance and Homelessness teams to help maximise income, minimise arrears and support residents during challenging periods of their lives.

Key Responsibilities Housing Benefit Support Officer

Process and monitor Housing Benefit claims relating to temporary accommodation.

Manage housing benefit subsidy administration and associated records.

Liaise with residents, landlords, accommodation providers and internal teams regarding benefit enquiries and payments.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to rent accounts, benefit entitlement and accommodation charges.

Maintain accurate records using council systems and databases.

Support income recovery processes and help reduce arrears within temporary accommodation services.
