The Role

You'll be the heartbeat of our accounts payable and receivable functions at Rat & Boa. As a trusted expert in our payment processes and systems, you'll empower teams across the business with your expertise, helping us scale smarter while delivering a seamless and reliable finance experience - both internally and externally. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their finance career to gain broad exposure across a growing, founder-led fashion brand, working closely with the Management Accountant and Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Supplier Management

β€’ Process invoices and credit notes accurately, ensuring they are approved and correctly recorded in Xero on a timely basis

β€’ Take ownership of our weekly payment runs, ensuring suppliers are paid accurately, on time and with a seamless experience from start to finish

β€’ Reconcile stock supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly

β€’ Control the purchasing of products and services from external suppliers through PO number issuing, ensuring accurate purchase order matching and approvals

β€’ Manage the onboarding of new suppliers, including verification of supplier and bank details and setup in the finance system

β€’ Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve invoice and payment queries

β€’ Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements and automation initiatives within accounts payable

β€’ Ecommerce gateway reconciliations (Shopify, PayPal, Clearpay)

Accounts Receivable & Sales

β€’ Assist with sales invoicing to our wholesale partners

β€’ Keep day-to-day accounts receivable operations running smoothly, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately

Month-End & Reporting Support

β€’ Assist the Management Accountant with month-end closing activities, including accruals and prepayments

β€’ Maintain clean, accurate and audit-ready financial records through regular bank reconciliations

β€’ Reconcile credit card statements for department cards

β€’ Provide support on travel and expense claims

Finance Operations & Inbox

β€’ Act as one of the main points of contact for the Finance department, monitoring the finance inbox and responding to queries in a timely and professional manner

β€’ Oversee daily financial operations, ensuring all tasks are carried out accurately and within specified timeframes

β€’ Build strong relationships across the business and with external partners by delivering responsive, solutions-focused support for all payment and finance queries

β€’ Assist in the development and implementation of finance processes and procedures

β€’ Support the Financial Controller and Management Accountant with ad hoc projects and reporting as required


Requirements

β€’ Experience in an accounts payable or accounts assistant role

β€’ Experience using Xero accounting software - essential

β€’ Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and accounts payable processes

β€’ Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel

β€’ Extremely detail-oriented, organised and able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines

β€’ Great communication skills, both written and verbal, with an eye for numbers

β€’ Ability to work independently where required, with initiative and a proactive mindset

β€’ A positive, flexible and hands-on attitude - ready to roll up your sleeves and embrace change

β€’ Retail or e-commerce experience preferred

β€’ Excited about the opportunity of working in the fashion and e-commerce sector
