The predicted salary is between 12 - 16 £ per hour.

As a Nursery Assistant you will be supporting the childcare team in the delivery of programmes for children attending the nursery whilst providing them with a safe, motivating, caring and child‑centred environment. You will ensure all activities meet the appropriate policies and procedures and follow, at all times, the roles and responsibilities and professional conduct set out by the nursery.

Responsibilities:

  • To organise a range of activities that will be stimulating to the children.
  • To look after the basic needs of all children at the nursery.
  • To maintain health and safety procedures and a high level of hygiene at the nursery.
  • To ensure that any food, drinks or bottles for children with allergies are prepared correctly and given correctly.
  • To be involved in developing a partnership with the parents of the children at the nursery.
  • To work in partnership with colleagues and be a valued team member within the nursery.
  • To provide a warm, secure relationship with the children which will encourage emotional and social growth and self‑expression.
  • Report any accidents/incidents involving a child, immediately to the Nursery Manager.
  • To assist the supervision and care of the children within the unit.
  • To ensure confidentiality of information relating to the children and families and staff is upheld at all times.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Be willing to register to undertake QCF 2/3 Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development qualification within the first 12 months of employment start date, or currently working towards this qualification.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to a quality child‑centred environment.
  • A good level of understanding of children's individual needs.
  • QCF Level 2/3 Diploma in Children's Care Learning and Development.
  • Certificate in Child Protection Training.
  • Have worked with children in a day nursery setting.
  • Have worked with children between the ages of 0-7.
  • Valid Paediatric First Aid.
