Rascals Day Nursery is looking for a cook to join our team at our Balmoral nursery. As cook, you will play an integral role in the successful running of the nursery. You will work closely with the management and staff and will have a passion for preparing fresh meals using fresh ingredients and the ability to cook healthy food from scratch following our established menu.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing all breakfasts, lunches and afternoon snacks for each child (age appropriate) within Rascals ensuring each child has a substantial serving.
- Responsible for preparing all afternoon snacks, age appropriate, which are placed in the fridge individually named and ensuring the correct amount of cups are placed on the trays for each room ready for staff to collect.
- Responsible for preparing all special requirements for each individual child.
- Responsible for ensuring that any food, drinks or bottles for children with allergies are prepared correctly and cooked correctly.
- Responsible for following all cleaning rotas within the kitchen.
- To ensure all dishes are washed, dried and placed in the correct place before the shift ends.
- To report breakages, spills or any foods which may be unusable immediately to the nursery manager.
- To adhere to following the nursery mealtimes and ensure food is prepared in time and at the correct temperature.
- Responsible for informing the manager if foods are running low and being involved in monthly ordering.
- To ensure confidentiality of information relating to the children, families and staff is upheld at all times.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering.
- A good level of understanding in nutritional values of food.
- Have experience working in a kitchen setting.
- Knowledge of operational practice in use of HACCP and COSHH.
- Knowledge of different stages of development from weaning stages.
