This strategic role blends deep payroll knowledge with AI-driven research, UI/UX awareness, and testing excellence to help design, validate, and enhance payroll software that truly stands out in terms of functionality and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the go-to expert for UK PAYE, National Insurance, pensions (Nest, Smart, Aviva, etc.), statutory pay (SMP, SPP, SAP, SSP), and RTI submissions.
  • Collaborate with product and development teams to design and test payroll features, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and user-friendliness.
  • Review process flows to identify and implement automation opportunities in payroll and pension operations.
  • Use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gamma, Notion AI) for research, legislative tracking, documentation, and summarization.
  • Prepare and review test cases, regression scenarios, and payroll validation reports before releases.
  • Work closely with UI/UX teams to ensure payroll dashboards and workflows are intuitive and aligned with user needs.
  • Deliver product walkthroughs, client demos, and internal knowledge-sharing sessions on payroll updates and functionalities.
  • Stay updated with HMRC, TPR, and pension provider changes to ensure complete compliance.
  • Document business requirements, user stories, and feature logic for ongoing payroll enhancements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong expertise in UK Payroll – including end-to-end processing, statutory payments, pensions, and RTI submissions.
  • Deep understanding of payroll software functionality and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – ability to explain payroll logic to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools for automation, research, and process improvement.
