Role Overview
We are seeking a Prototype Technician / Engineering Technician to support engineering activities involved in the development, build, and testing of complex CT X‑ray inspection systems. This is a hands-on, practical role, ideal for someone early in their engineering career who enjoys working with mechanical assemblies and is keen to learn and develop their skills within a supportive engineering environment. Working closely with experienced Engineers and Test teams, you will contribute to the build and modification of engineering prototypes, assist with test system upgrades, and help ensure the efficient day‑to‑day running of the product test environment. Full training and guidance will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineering activities for the development and testing of CT X‑ray inspection machines
- Assist with the mechanical assembly and build of prototype and test systems
- Support senior engineers with prototype builds, upgrades, and modifications
- Carry out hands‑on mechanical and hardware changes under guidance
- Assist Engineering and Test teams during product testing activities
- Help maintain an efficient and safe product test environment, including:
- Supporting space planning and layout activities
- Assisting with the movement and setup of equipment
- Organising test equipment, tools, and components
- Helping with the preparation of services such as power supplies and communication lines
