About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer to support our Cargo Vehicle Inspection (CVI) and RTT X-ray Scanning systems across Thames Gateway, covering Euro Tunnel, Dover to Poole ports.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex detection systems. You will serve as a technical expert and liaison, ensuring optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on CVI and RTT X-ray scanning systems.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and software components.
- Provide third-line technical support to site engineers, distributors, and customer representatives.
- Support defect liability and post-acceptance phases for mobile and airport cargo equipment.
- Participate in the installation of static, gantry, and portal systems as part of a project team.
- Travel nationally and internationally up to 90% of the time, including to challenging environments (with appropriate remuneration).
- Complete service documentation, engineering change requests, and maintain accurate records in internal databases.
What We’re Looking For
- Recognised engineering qualification (BTEC, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
- Knowledge of IT networking (CCNP or equivalent preferred).
- Experience with integrated systems including PLCs, high-voltage systems, and/or radar.
- Flexibility to travel globally, often at short notice.
- Previous experience in a similar field-based engineering role, particularly in international or high-security environments, is highly desirable
