Role Overview
This is an apprentice position suited to a school or college leaver that will enable them to apply themselves practically in the manufacturing environment whilst gaining a much sought-after qualification. The successful candidate will learn and understand the skills and processes required to enable them to successfully install and support various electrical systems for Cargo and Vehicle Inspection Solutions. As part of the programme, you will rotate through other departments such as engineering, health safety & facilities and commissioning to further enhance your experience and understanding within these business areas. Successful completion of the course and suitable performance throughout the apprenticeship could lead to a permanent position being offered.
Responsibilities
- To follow instructions both written and verbal in order to learn and understand the basic skills and processes required in electrical installation activities.
- Attend college on a day-release scheme in order to achieve the necessary job related academic qualifications to support the in-company activities and skill sets.
- Learn how to read and interpret electrical engineering design drawings in order to carry out the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical components and sub-systems.
- Learn how to operate in a manner which does not endanger both the job holder and the personnel around him/her (Health & Safety at work).
- Work from ladders & platforms to install, modify or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
Qualifications
- Must be enthusiastic, a good team player, reliable, hard working and flexible in your approach and willing to work extra hours when necessary and travel abroad as required.
- Applicants will need a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade (A*-C) or (9-4) which includes:
- GCSE grade (A*-C) or (4-9) in English
- GCSE grade (A*-C) or (4-9) in science
- GCSE grade (A*-C) or (4-9) in maths
