As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be part of a skilled production team responsible for assembling technically complex, high-value products. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers and the Cargo Research Team, you will support the build of a new generation of inspection systems while contributing to product quality, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components and complete systems to engineering specifications
- Carry out testing of sub-assemblies, including pressure, leak, and coolant system testing
- Accurately record assembly work, test results, and any modifications completed
- Work in compliance with ISO9001 quality standards and audited processes
- Support product quality assurance activities, including root cause analysis of failed hardware
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical and production issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working area in line with 5S principles
- Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork
Qualifications
- Time-served mechanical experience
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
- Understanding of mechanical fasteners, bearings, gears, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Experience in precision assembly or working with complex machinery
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment
- Knowledge of design for manufacture within a production environment
Desirable Experience
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Degree in a relevant mechanical or engineering discipline
- Experience working with pressure systems and ultra-high vacuum systems
- Experience using lifting equipment
- Forklift truck and scissor lift operation experience
