The Electro‑Mechanical Technician plays a key role in the assembly and integration of complex x‑ray machines – e.g. mechanical fitting, cabling and integration of PCBs, servers, cooling systems, HV power supplies, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Building of x‑ray scanner machines from engineering drawings, diagrams and standard work instructions.
  • Undertake repair and rework of mechanical assemblies.
  • Be able to interpret Electrical Wire schematics and undertake fault finding and rectification.
  • Responsible for quality of build in all areas including documentation, including self‑checking and buddy checks.
  • Maintain throughput targets.
  • Assist in other areas of manufacturing as required.
  • Ensure familiarity with stores and stock control and assist when directed.
  • Support the development of Lean principles within the work area, suggest improvements.
  • Undertake prototype assembly and assist with Manufacturing Engineering on Project work.
  • Strict adherence to Safe work practices.
  • Support the improvement of the facility, including implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, BPD and Continuous Improvements.
  • Comply with all Health and safety policies.
  • Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork.
  • Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications:

  • Experience of assembling complex electro‑mechanical products.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptability combined with good communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative following company procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic testing and problem solving.
  • Ability to work accurately to procedures to produce work of consistent high quality.
  • Able to integrate well into an established team supporting and assisting colleagues when required.
  • GCSE level maths and English.
  • Good mechanical and workshop skills.
  • A good general technical and electro‑mechanical mind‑set – e.g. understanding of electrical and mechanical documentation, drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical safety standards.
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, BPD and Continuous Improvement.

Initially Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:00 Friday 08:00-15:30 but may develop into a shift role in the future should the business require it. This would attract a shift premium.
