Location: Avonmouth, Bristol

Are you ready to step up in your transport career? This is a development role within a busy, fast-paced transport operation. This is perfect for someone who is ready to step up and grow into a Transport Manager position over the next 12 years. You will be supporting both daily operations and longer-term planning, while gaining hands-on experience in compliance, people leadership and depot management.

What’s the role?

  • Support the Transport Manager with day-to-day depot operations
  • Ensure vehicles and records meet all legal compliance and safety requirements
  • Be a visible and supportive presence for drivers on shift
  • Coach and guide the driving team in a fair and consistent way
  • Assist with onboarding, training and recruitment of new drivers
  • Help investigate incidents, accidents and near-misses to maintain high safety standards
  • Step up to lead operations when the Transport Manager is on leave or off-site

This is a hands-on leadership role - not just office-based.

Our ideal candidate

You don’t need to already be a Transport Manager. We’re looking for potential and the right approach. Ideally, you’ll have experience in transport, fleet operations, route planning or logistics coordination, along with:

  • Some supervisory experience (leading, coaching, mentoring or directing others)
  • Understanding of driver hours / working time rules
  • Confidence communicating clearly and staying composed under pressure

However, if you’re ambitious, driven, emotionally intelligent and fair, we’d love to chat with you anyway. Being motivated to grow your career into full transport management is a great place to start!

Desirable (Not Essential) qualifications:

  • Managers CPC (or willingness to work towards it with full support)
  • HGV Class 1 licence
