We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our clients growing team and work closely with the Transport Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in transport planning who is looking to further develop their career within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Previous transport planning experience and prior experience in the waste management industry is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and coordinate a fleet of Tipper wagons and Artic tractor units
- Maximise daily load counts through effective geographical planning
- Manage daily activity using web-based fleet tracking systems
- Use transport planning software to optimise routes and schedules
- Arrange tip sites ahead of deliveries
- Ensure loading equipment is deployed to sites efficiently
- Conduct daily driver debriefs
- Liaise with site managers and support forward planning operations
- Monitor driver paperwork and reconcile deliveries daily
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs
- Maintain accurate transport documentation in line with company procedures
Working alongside the Transport Manager, you will also assist with:
- Drivers hours and working time regulations
- Vehicle maintenance compliance and O Licence requirements
- Vehicle defect management
- Tachograph compliance and licence administration
- DOC and waste management paperwork
- Previous experience in transport planning (waste)
- Strong understanding of drivers hours and working time regulations
- Experience with fleet planning and return loads
- Excellent geographical knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Flexible and adaptable approach to route planning
- Confident using fleet tracking systems and Microsoft Excel
- Proactive problem-solving mindset
- A willingness to learn and develop within the waste management sector
