We are acting as an employment agency for this permanent position. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR & Payroll Manager to join a well-established business in a pivotal role, overseeing HR operations, recruitment, payroll, and training across multiple sites throughout the Northwest. About the Role As HR & Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions, including employee relations, payroll, training coordination, and recruitment. Working closely with site managers, the payroll team, and external HR consultants, you’ll ensure all processes are legally compliant, efficient, and aligned with business objectives. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone confident in both strategy and day-to-day operations, who enjoys working with people and managing multiple priorities. Key Responsibilities HR Management & Employee Relations * Oversee employee inductions, appraisals, disciplinary procedures, and return-to-work interviews * Liaise with external HR consultants to ensure compliance and documentation of all employee matters * Manage employee records, contracts, sickness, and absences * Ensure accurate HR reporting and support the wider team with personnel issues as they arise Payroll & Administration * Supervise the internal payroll team and provide payroll cover when needed * Support the implementation and ongoing management of payroll software (e.g. Staffology) * Ensure compliance with SSP, pensions, and relevant payroll legislation * Manage holiday requests and rotas, ensuring adequate cover across all sites Training & Development * Coordinate mandatory training across all departments, including plant and machinery training * Liaise with external training providers (e.g. NPORS) to ensure staff certifications are up to date * Maintain and update the company training matrix * Support staff development and progression planning Health & Safety Support * Assist the H&S Manager with site inspections and closing out actions * Ensure all training related to H&S compliance is maintained What We’re Looking For Qualifications & Experience: * CIPD qualified or currently working towards the qualification (essential) * Minimum 2 years\' experience in a similar HR and payroll position * Proven experience with SSP, pensions, disciplinary procedures, and HR documentation * Strong track record of managing training and liaising with H&S teams * Experience coordinating across multiple sites is advantageous Skills & Attributes: * Excellent organisational and time-management skills * High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail * Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills * Ability to manage pressure, prioritise effectively, and work independently * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and overall IT literacy * Professional, approachable, and solutions-focused Why Join? * Be part of a thriving, people-focused company that values staff development * Opportunity to influence and improve HR processes in a growing business * Friendly, supportive environment with a flexible and forward-thinking culture * Free on-site parking * Company pension and events Interested?
