Our client, a well‑established and growing public accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join their expanding Audit & Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional with strong public practice experience who is looking to take ownership of engagements while playing an active role in client management and practice operations.
The Role
As Audit Manager, you will lead audit engagements from planning through completion, manage client relationships, and support the firm’s operational and team development initiatives. The role offers a mix of technical leadership, client advisory exposure, and practice management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit & Assurance
- Manage a portfolio of audit and assurance engagements across a diverse client base
- Lead audit planning, risk assessment, and execution
- Review financial statements and audit working papers to ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Ensure engagements are delivered on time and within budget
- Identify areas for improvement in internal controls and provide practical recommendations
- Client Relationship Management
- Act as the main point of contact for clients throughout the audit process
- Provide technical accounting guidance and respond to complex financial reporting queries
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Identify opportunities for additional services
- Team & Practice Management
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of Audit Seniors and Associates
- Assist with resource planning and workflow management
- Monitor engagement budgets, WIP, and billing
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance reviews
- Contribute to continuous improvement of audit processes and systems
About You
- ACA / ACCA / CPA qualified (or equivalent)
- 5+ years’ experience in public accounting audit
- Proven experience managing audit engagements and leading teams
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS / UK GAAP (or relevant local standards)
- Working knowledge of accounting processes and financial reporting
- Experience contributing to practice management and operational efficiency
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
