Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of a respectable and well-established hotel management and property development company, known for its strong presence in the property and hospitality sectors. With over 50 years of industry experience, the organisation is continuing to grow steadily and is now seeking a capable and driven Senior Finance Assistant to join its expanding team in Harrow.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with 2-3 years’ experience in finance, ideally part-qualified and seeking to develop their career within a dynamic and professional environment.
Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Group Finance Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations across the business. You\’ll gain exposure to year-end accounting, audits, VAT submissions, month-end analysis, and support with reporting to senior stakeholders.
With ongoing business expansion, there is a clear path for development and increased responsibility – including ownership of smaller group entities and progression toward full account preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts for group entities, ahead of submission to external auditors
- Manage daily bookkeeping, including purchase and sales ledger entries
- Perform bank reconciliations for group companies
- Prepare data for VAT returns
- Process and reconcile expenses, credit cards, and petty cash transactions
- Raise and reconcile service charge and rental invoices
- Maintain the fixed asset register, accounting for additions/disposals and calculating depreciation
- Prepare and process month-end supplier payment runs
- Collaborate with the Group Finance Controller on ad hoc financial reports, board packs, and sector-specific tender documents
Ideal Candidate
- 4-5 years\’ experience in a finance/accounts role
- Part-qualified (ACCA, AAT, CIMA or similar) or working toward a professional qualification
- Experience in property or hospitality sectors is advantageous
- Proactive, organised, and eager to take ownership of responsibilities
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software
- A team player with excellent communication and analytical abilities
