We are recruiting on behalf of an established accountancy practice seeking an experienced Tax & Accounts Manager to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking for a broad, client-facing position covering statutory accounts, Corporation Tax and Personal Tax/Self Assessment.

The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio of limited companies, owner-managed businesses and individual clients, taking responsibility for accounts and tax compliance while developing strong relationships with clients.

The Role

As Tax & Accounts Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of limited companies, owner-managed businesses and personal tax clients.
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies.
  • Preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships.
  • Preparing and reviewing Corporation Tax computations and CT600 returns.
  • Preparing and reviewing Personal Tax/Self Assessment returns for directors, shareholders, sole traders, landlords and other individuals.
  • Calculating tax liabilities and ensuring clients are advised of relevant payment and filing deadlines.
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities for clients.
  • Dealing with HMRC correspondence and routine enquiries.
  • Liaising with Companies House where required.
  • Maintaining regular contact with clients and ensuring information is obtained ahead of statutory deadlines.
  • Reviewing bookkeeping and year-end records and identifying necessary adjustments.
  • Providing clear and practical advice to clients regarding their accounts and tax position.
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with UK statutory requirements.
  • Reviewing work prepared by junior members of the team.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior staff where appropriate.
  • Working closely with the firm's Directors/Partners on more complex client matters.

The Candidate

We are looking for someone with strong experience gained within a UK accountancy practice who is comfortable independently managing accounts and tax work.

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Strong experience preparing and/or reviewing statutory accounts.
  • Good Corporation Tax knowledge, including CT600 preparation.
  • Strong Personal Tax and Self Assessment experience.
  • Experience dealing with owner-managed businesses and company directors.
  • Experience managing a client portfolio and multiple deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of HMRC and Companies House requirements.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The confidence to manage work independently and take ownership of client relationships.
  • Experience with areas such as Capital Gains Tax, property taxation, VAT, partnership taxation and owner-managed business tax planning would be advantageous.

Qualifications

Candidates may be:

  • ACA / ACCA / CTA / ATT qualified;
  • Part-qualified with substantial relevant experience;

Our client is particularly interested in practical UK accountancy practice experience
