Job Description Marine Engineer – Permanent – Isle of Wight - £Competitive Marine Engineer required for a leading Marine service centre based on the Isle of Wight. As dealers for many of the major brands, the business benefits with manufacturer support and a strong customer base with varied work type including inboards, outboards, marine electrics and more. The opportunity is working within a business specialising in leisure boating, covering everything from installation, routine servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostics. The Marine Engineer will work on inboards and outboards, diesel and petrol, and everything ranging from small RIBs and auxiliary engines to large sailing and motor yachts. The right candidate will be willing to turn their hand to varied jobs, but candidates specialising in either inboard or outboard engines will be considered. As dealers for leading brands including Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Honda Marine and Mercury they have the benefit of expertise and training opportunities. A candidate with recent manufacturer training or experience is viewed favourably but not essential. Good product knowledge is beneficial. The right candidate should also be motivated and practical with the ability to remain flexible and work with customers\' individual requirements. Tasks and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following: * Installation of a range of engines and equipment into new and used boats * Carrying out routine servicing * Diagnostics and troubleshooting * Attending to call-outs and providing both short-term and long-term solutions for customers * Attending boats both locally to the workshop and island wide Qualifications: Formal training from marine leisure market preferred but not essential Skills required: * Strong technical knowledge and ability * Problem solving skills * Ability to work unsupervised individually, as well as within a team * Communication skills * Organisation skills Attributes and mindset: * Confident * Enthusiastic with a desire to learn and improve * Hard-working and focused * Takes pride in work with a respect for customer\'s vessels * Punctual and reliable This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced Marine Engineer to work within an island environment, within a close nit customer base with the opportunity to further develop their skill set with training courses provided by leading brand manufacturers.
