Position Overview
We are seeking a Quality Inspector with hands‑on experience in the manufacture and inspection of fasteners to join our Quality team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all incoming, in‑process, and outgoing materials and products meet the company’s quality standards and customer specifications. This role will involve inspecting, booking in materials, performing regular surveillance inspections, managing NCRs, and carrying out final release checks prior to despatch.
Incoming Inspection & Material Control
- Inspect and verify incoming materials and fasteners against specifications, drawings, and purchase orders.
- Book in and document all inspected materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Identify and segregate non‑conforming materials and raise NCRs where necessary.
In‑Process & Surveillance Inspection
- Conduct regular surveillance inspections across manufacturing areas to ensure ongoing compliance with quality requirements.
- Verify that production processes are following approved methods and quality standards.
- Support manufacturing teams with guidance on quality‑related matters and inspection techniques.
Final Inspection & Despatch
- Carry out detailed final inspections of finished fasteners prior to despatch to customers.
- Verify all documentation, certificates, and dimensional checks are complete and compliant.
- Approve products for release once all quality requirements have been satisfied.
Non‑Conformance & Corrective Action Management
- Raise, record, and manage Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) for internal, supplier, and customer issues.
- Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding quality concerns and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Department.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date inspection records and reports.
- Ensure traceability and documentation control in accordance with ISO and customer requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Quality Inspector within a fastener manufacturing environment (bolts, nuts, studs, washers, etc.).
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and measurement tolerances.
- Proficient in using a wide range of measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, verniers, thread gauges, shadowgraphs, torque testers).
- Good working knowledge of ISO 9001 and related quality standards.
- Experience with NCR management and supplier/customer quality interaction.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem‑solving.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in fastener or precision component manufacturing quality inspection.
- Engineering or technical qualification (e.g. ONC, HNC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) preferred.
