Rapid Fusion builds robotic 3D printers and hybrid manufacturing cells. KUKA robots, pellet extruders, CNC machining—integrated systems for aerospace, marine, and defence customers. We design and manufacture everything in‑house at our facility in Exeter.
The Role
- Lead electrical design from concept through as‑built documentation
- Design and integrate safety systems to meet CE and UL requirements
- Create technical drawings ready for prototyping and manufacturing
- Ensure full compliance with EU Machinery Directive and US standards (NFPA 79, UL)
- Work with suppliers and subcontractors to deliver quality components on time
- Apply value engineering—smart decisions, not cheap ones
- Install and commission systems at customer sites
- Build and lead an electrical engineering team as we grow
What We’re Looking For
Experience over qualifications. We want someone who’s done this, not just studied it.
Essential
- Designed electrical systems for industrial machinery
- Knows the EU Machinery Directive and CE marking inside out
- Can produce professional technical and as‑built drawings
- Understands safety systems, PLCs, and servo drives
- Happy on customer sites leading installations and commissioning
- UK driving licence, willing to travel (UK and international)
Useful
- US compliance experience (NFPA 79, UL 508A)
- Robotics integration (KUKA a bonus)
- Additive manufacturing, LFAM, or robot commissioning background
- Built or mentored a team before
Location & Working
Based at our facility at Skypark, Exeter. This is an on‑site role—we’re building physical machines, not writing software. Travel to customer sites required, including occasional international trips.
