CYP Counsellor - Expressions of Interests
Opportunity
Are you passionate about providing specialist, trauma-informed therapeutic support to children and young people? We are inviting applications from existing Rape Crisis South London staff who are interested in joining our CYP service as a Children and Young Person (CYP) Counsellor.
This is an opportunity to provide specialist counselling and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4 to 24 who have experienced sexual violence, within a supportive and specialist service.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A recognised counselling or psychotherapy qualification to at least Level 4 Diploma level.
- A minimum of 400 post-qualification supervised client hours.
- Membership, and eligibility for accreditation, of a relevant professional body such as BACP, UKCP or NCPS.
- Experience of working therapeutically with children and young people.
- Experience supporting clients affected by trauma, abuse or sexual violence.
- Experience managing safeguarding concerns and working with other professionals and agencies.
- The ability to work safely and effectively with complex client presentations.
- Strong communication, record-keeping and organisational skills.
- An understanding of trauma-informed, empowerment-based and anti-oppressive practice.

Interview Process
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a short interview or professional discussion, likely conducted via MS Teams.
Stage one: MS Teams with the Interim Head of Therapeutic Services, Interim Adult Counselling Lead and CYP Clinical Lead one other panel member.
The interview will explore experience and approach to:
- Safeguarding
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Wellbeing and feminist practice
- Trauma-informed therapeutic work
- Leadership responsibilities relevant to the role
