Ranson Barnes Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a well‑established manufacturing business in the search for a Sales & Purchasing Administrator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual with experience in purchasing, sales administration, and general business support within a manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting procurement operations, coordinating sales administration, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day sales administration and operational support across the business.
- Process customer orders accurately and liaise with customers regarding order updates, delivery schedules, and general enquiries.
- Support the sales team with quotations, order processing, and maintaining customer records.
- Manage purchasing administration for the procurement of goods, raw materials, and services.
- Raise purchase requisitions and process purchase orders efficiently.
- Ensure consumable and stock items are maintained at required levels to support production demands.
- Monitor supplier lead times and chase outstanding purchase orders where required.
- Communicate any delivery or scheduling changes with internal departments including sales and production.
- Maintain accurate digital purchasing and sales records within the company ERP system.
- Liaise with departmental managers to ensure purchased materials meet required specifications.
- Assist with stock control activities and periodic stock checks.
- Provide general administrative support to management and other departments when required.
- Carry out additional duties appropriate to the role and business needs.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within a Sales Administration, Procurement, or Purchasing role in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience within the steel or industrial manufacturing sector would be advantageous but not necessary.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as D365 or similar platforms.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Confident problem‑solver with good negotiation and commercial awareness.
