Monday to Friday - No night shifts

Ranson Barnes Recruitment Ltd are delighted to be partnering once again with a valued repeat client—an established and growing manufacturing business—to recruit a hands-on Production Supervisor. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical, shop floor-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys rolling up their sleeves. You'll play a key role in driving performance, leading from the front, and making a visible impact on production, safety, quality, and team engagement.

The Role

This is not a desk-based position—you'll be on the shop floor, actively involved in production while leading and supporting your team to deliver daily targets. You'll act as the vital link between planning and execution, ensuring operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead from the front as a hands-on supervisor—operating equipment, supporting production, resolving issues and keeping workflow moving across departments
  • Take ownership of daily production performance including scheduling, labour allocation, short-term capacity planning and achieving On-Time Delivery targets
  • Ensure accurate use of ERP/MRP systems (e.g. JDE), maintaining production data, stock accuracy and full traceability
  • Champion a proactive health, safety and environmental culture—leading by example, conducting audits and taking immediate action where required
  • Maintain high quality standards through in-process checks, problem solving and collaboration with quality teams to prevent recurrence
  • Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, embedding tools such as 5S, visual management and operator-led improvements
  • Lead, coach and develop your team—managing attendance, performance, training and cross-skilling to build a flexible, capable workforce
  • Take responsibility for maintaining a safe, clean and compliant site, including supporting security/key holder duties when required

What We're Looking For

  • A proven hands-on supervisor or senior operator from a manufacturing environment
  • Someone who leads by example and is comfortable being physically involved in production
  • Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • A confident problem solver with solid root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage teams
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • IT literate with experience using ERP/MRP systems such as JDE
  • Calm, organised and effective under pressure
