Rangeford villages develops & operates retirement villages for people aged over 60. Homewood Grove is built in a contemporary style and set in beautifully manicured gardens, the village is home to a community within a community. A range of one, two and three bedroom apartments designed for later living with a full range of supporting services, which are open to locals as well as our owner community.

Rangeford Care is our in house care provider and unlike many care providers in this area, is set up as a domiciliary care service, with the convenience of being on one site. We are extremely proud of the strong team spirit and the high level of care we provide for our lovely clients

We have a new and exciting opportunity and are recruiting a key position as part of the management team. Reporting to the Village Manager, the Operations Manager has responsibility for ensuring the smooth-running of the operations functions within the village, specifically Food and Beverage (Front of House), Events and the Village Services Team (Reception), whilst delivering friendly and efficient customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere to residents and visitors. This is an excellent opportunity as the successful candidate will be integral to the development and success of Homewood Grove.

A key focus of the role will be to develop the F&B front of house service, to include implementing an ethos of exemplary service delivery across the village, and a gold standard customer dining experience. The role holder will be responsible for the recruitment, management, training, development and motivation of their teams within these areas.

The successful candidate must be able lead from the front. They must be highly visible to colleagues, owners and visitors alike, whilst supporting the Village Manager, across the business, to ensure the success of the village, and to deputise in their absence.

Duties and Responsibilities

General

  • Operational management of F&B and Village Services team.
  • Assisting in recruiting, training and development of team members within relevant departments
  • Supporting the Village Services Manager in their management of the Village Services ensuring they complete all aspects of their role including rota scheduling, training and performance management, whilst meeting the expected service levels
  • Ensuring that all services are covered during their operational hours, or alternative solutions are put in place if this can’t be achieved
  • Working closely with the Restaurant team and Head Chef to organise an ongoing cycle of events to meet standards and requirements of owner demographic, maintain and develop high standards of service and presentation
  • Working with relevant department to manage, organise and develop the events schedule for owners for both in-house and external events
  • Responding to owners’ enquiries and requests, and liaising with relevant departments to follow-up requests and queries
  • With input and support from Village Manager, managing budgets, working within budgets for own departments, and provide budget reports/KPI as required
  • Acting as Duty Manager in absence of Village Manager, to include dealing with any urgent issues or emergencies by following procedures
  • Working collaboratively with Village Managers, Operations Managers and colleagues at other Rangeford Village sites

Qualifications

  • HND/Bachelor's degree level education in relevant subject or equivalent professional level experience (Desirable)
  • Educated to A Levels standard (Desirable)
  • Leadership/management training
  • Clean Driving licence

Experience

Must have at least 2 years previous experience at a minimum level of Supervisor / Assistant Manager/ Operations Manager/Duty Manager in a busy customer-facing environment ideally in hotels, hospitality, retail industry or a similar retirement community.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role you will need to balance a number of characteristics to ensure you maintain excellent customer service but do not lose business focus. You will need to be friendly, sociable, welcoming and be calm, patient and polite, but also professional, organised and driven to succeed.

An understanding of potential issues and challenges of working with an older demographic is essential.
