Are you a compassionate and resilient professional dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of young people? We are currently seeking Youth Support Workers for exciting Temp-to-Perm opportunities with a leading specialist youth charity.

Locations: Newry & Downpatrick

The Opportunity: In this role, you will provide vital interventions to young people aged 16-25, helping them build the skills and confidence necessary to maintain their own homes and live independently. You will act as a mentor, advocate, and practical guide, ensuring that the young people you support have the best possible start to their adult lives.

  • 36 hours per week (3 x 12 hour shifts - mostly waking nights cover)

Requirements:

  • A valid NISCC registration, as well as enhanced vetting / compliance checks including an Enhanced Access NI check due to the nature of this work, this may include a Barred List check for both Children & Vulnerable Adults (depending on the role).
  • 6 months of experience working with young people in supported housing or community-based support OR a relevant degree (Social Work, Youth & Community Work) plus 6 months of experience.
  • Proven experience in risk assessment, safety planning, and support planning.
  • Understanding and knowledge of homelessness, mental health and substance use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To establish a positive relationship with Young People and to support them to create a safe home environment.
  • To provide holistic support (on a one to one and group basis) to all young people accessing the service, ensuring the support meets their needs.
  • To work alongside and support the Housing Worker to provide practical and hands on support regarding budgeting, cooking, cleaning and running a home in conjunction with the young people's support plans to ensure a person centred approach.
  • Also, to ensure direction is taken in responding to arising safety concerns including adhering to safety plans in order to promote safeguarding.
  • Be required to undertake any other duties to ensure the effective, safe delivery and development of services.
  • Be flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the young people and service, always putting young people first.
  • To work shift patterns that meet the needs of the young people.
