We are exclusively representing an award-winning, multi-disciplinary main contractor based in Kent, currently undergoing an exciting phase of strategic growth. With a robust annual turnover now exceeding £25 million and a dedicated team of over 60 construction professionals, they have the financial strength of a major player while maintaining the agile, collaborative culture of a business where every team member is valued.
Their project pipeline for the next 18-24 months is incredibly strong, built on their outstanding reputation across the Healthcare, Commercial, Education, and Residential sectors. This growth creates a fantastic opportunity for a Senior QS to join their commercial team, with genuine scope for future career progression as the company continues to expand.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Taking full commercial leadership on a variety of projects from inception through to final account. This could range from a high-specification new build to a complex, live environment refurbishment in a hospital or school.
- Managing all aspects of the subcontracting process, from procurement and negotiation to final account settlement.
- Preparing, submitting, and agreeing monthly valuations, variations, and detailed cost reports.
- Working closely with project and site management teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, without compromising on quality.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior members of the commercial team.
- Fostering strong relationships with clients, consultants, and the supply chain.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ready to take the next step or currently in a Senior QS role.
- A background with a UK main contractor is essential.
- Experience in either commercial construction (e.g., healthcare, education, fit-out) or residential development. Candidates with a diverse project history are highly encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of various contract forms (e.g., JCT, D&B).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and financial management skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A relevant degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
