Randstad is working with a leading contractor in the water sector looking to expand its engineering team as part of a significant AMP8 framework. They are seeking a Principal EICA Design Engineer to play a key role in delivering a range of water and wastewater projects. The Role:
As a Principal EICA Design Engineer, you will take a leading role in developing efficient and cost-effective electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (EICA) designs for water and wastewater treatment projects. Your expertise will help shape solutions that are practical to construct, commission, and operate, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing high-quality EICA design deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to develop technical capabilities.
- Collaborating with other disciplines to ensure an integrated approach to project design and execution.
- Contributing to early-stage design and optioneering to identify the most cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
- Supporting proposals by providing technical input and cost estimates.
- Ensuring all designs meet health, safety, and environmental requirements, while considering future operational efficiency.
- Driving continuous improvement within the design process, contributing to the development of best practices.
What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive experience in EICA design, ideally within the water or wastewater sector.
- Chartered status or membership of a relevant professional institution (or working towards).
- A degree or master’s in electrical, control, or instrumentation engineering (or equivalent).
- A strong understanding of key EICA systems used in water treatment, including MCC designs, control and instrumentation specifications, and network configurations.
- Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams.
- The ability to balance technical excellence with practical, constructible solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different disciplines.
- A full UK driving licence.
