A leading digital consultancy is seeking a Mobile Technical Architect to spearhead the engineering and architecture of cutting-edge mobile apps and SDKs that communicate directly with smart, connected hardware.

In this position, you will serve as the technical authority between business vision and hands-on execution. You will guide solutions from initial scoping and client advisory sessions right through to worldwide commercial launch, keeping codebases resilient, bulletproof, and built for massive scale.

Responsibilities

  • Architect Core Systems: Map out the high-level blueprints for native apps, reusable developer kits, and their cloud backend touchpoints.
  • Bridge Mobile & Hardware: Build dependable, low-latency communication pipelines between smart devices and external equipment using short-range wireless protocols.
  • Drive Scoping & Feasibility: Unpack business goals, evaluate technical constraints, produce clear solution designs, and scope realistic project milestones.
  • Uphold Engineering Rigour: Champion modern development habits across code reviews, security guardrails, performance profiling, and test automation.
  • Coordinate Across Disciplines: Work alongside product owners, QA specialists, firmware developers, and key enterprise stakeholders within Agile squads.
  • Technical Guidance: Coach senior and mid-level developers, resolving complex technical blockers and tackling root-cause system bottlenecks.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience shaping mobile tech that links up with physical hardware, smart consumer tech, or regulated devices.
  • Deep specialisation in either native iOS or Android.
  • Practical background establishing wireless device communication via short-range protocols (e.g. low-power wireless networks).
  • Skilled in structuring modular mobile SDKs and calling low-level libraries from native codebases.
  • End-to-end delivery exposure, taking digital products from early concept through to international store releases.
  • Strong consulting instincts with the confidence to advise client leadership and guide distributed delivery squads.

If you have a strong engineering pedigree and enjoy designing mobile systems that interact with the physical world, and are interested in the above position then apply directly to the AD or send your CV to Iram.Shariff@randstaddigital.com.
