Mobile Engineering Supervisor (Working Technical Lead)Location: Mobile - London & Greater LondonHours: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00 (40 hours per week) + Call-Out RotaPackage: 55,000 + Company Van & Fuel Card+ Overtime + training Role PurposeThe Mobile Engineering Supervisor is a key hands-on leadership role operating as the primary Lead Engineer across a high-profile, multi-site portfolio.Key Responsibilities1. Hands-On Electrical Leadership & Critical Power DeliveryLead by Example "On the Tools": Directly execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM), periodic inspections, and reactive repairs across complex low-voltage (LV) distribution networks, switchgear, UPS systems, central battery units, and standby generators.Senior Technical Escalation: Serve as the first-response escalation lead for high-severity plant trips, power quality anomalies, or critical electrical failures serving live broadcasting suites, transmission hubs, and data racks.Methodical Fault Finding: Conduct root-cause diagnostic investigations using advanced test instruments, executing swift, safe service restorations with zero disruption to live programming.Multi-Skilled Support: Assist with first-line mechanical, HVAC, and public health plant-including close-control air conditioning (CRAC/DX units), chillers, pumps, and building management systems (BMS).2. Working Supervisory Guidance & Engineer MentorshipField Technical Mentorship: Work alongside mobile engineers and apprentices, providing hands-on coaching, technical knowledge-share, and practical demonstrations on complex electrical systems.Daily Coordination: Support the regional management team by coordinating day-to-day task prioritization, advising on route feasibility, balancing reactive emergencies against PPM schedules, and ensuring high first-time fix rates.3. Statutory Compliance, Safety & Safe Systems of WorkElectrical Compliance Ownership: Take operational responsibility for site electrical compliance under BS 7671 standards, ensuring fixed-wire testing logs, emergency lighting certificates, and thermal imaging records remain pristine and audit-ready.SSoW & RAMS Leadership: Review, challenge, and apply practical site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring strict adherence to safe working practices.Permit to Work (PTW) & Isolations: Govern and execute safe electrical isolations (LOTO) and issue Permits to Work for intrusive or high-risk tasks across the portfolio.Technical Appointments: Act as, or complete formal training toward, appointment as Authorised Person (AP) / Competent Person (CP) for Low Voltage (LV) electrical safety rules.4. CAFM Delivery, Quoting & Supply Chain CoordinationCAFM Logging: Maintain accurate records on mobile CAFM tablets, capturing detailed diagnostic notes, before/after photos, accurate labor times, and parts used.Extra Works Scoping: Identify asset aging and system vulnerabilities during routine PPMs, compiling technical scopes, parts lists, and labor estimates for extra works, energy upgrades, and capital remedials..5. Client Engagement & Operational InterfaceDaily Client Ambassador: Act as the trustworthy, visible technical face of the contract, liaising directly with studio managers, broadcast engineers, and facilities leads.Clear Technical Translation: Translate complex electrical issues and restoration plans into plain, non-technical language for media and production stakeholders.Person SpecificationExperience & BackgroundWorking Lead / Senior Electrician Track Record: Demonstrable background as a Lead Electrician, Working Supervisor, Senior Mobile Engineer, or Shift Leader with proven hands-on technical authority in commercial, broadcast, or critical environments.Leadership Aptitude: Natural ability to mentor peers, demonstrate technical techniques, and maintain high standards on site without losing touch with daily tools-based engineering.Customer Presentation: Professional, calm, and articulate interpersonal manner suitable for interacting with client technical directors and creative media staff.Qualifications & CertificationsElectrical Apprenticeship (Desireable): Formally completed recognised electrical qualification (Level 3 or equivalent) Multi-skilled level 2 or equivalent will also be consideredDriving Licence (Mandatory): Full, clean UK Driving Licence (required for mobile travel).Randstad CPE values diversity and promotes equality.
