Job Specification: Project Engineer (New Build Residential)Position Title: Project Engineer - New Build ResidentialDepartment: Construction / EngineeringReports To: Project Director / Senior Project ManagerEmployment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewThe Project Engineer manages the technical, structural, and MEP engineering aspects of high-density/multi-unit new build residential developments. You will ensure design compliance, resolve on-site technical queries, oversee sub-contractor delivery, and ensure all build phases meet quality standards, statutory approvals, and safety regulations.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Site Coordination: Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings; manage RFI (Request for Information) and Technical Query (TQ) processes; resolve design clashes before on-site installation.

Build Quality & QA/QC: Enforce quality inspections across groundworks, superstructure, envelope, and MEP fit-out phases to achieve sign-off for statutory compliance (e.g., Building Regulations / NHBC / LABC standards).Package & Sub-Contractor Management: Coordinate engineering sub-contractors, manage technical submittals, verify specs for materials/plant procurement, and ensure works adhere to the build schedule.

Testing & Handover: Oversee testing, commissioning, and snagging across apartment units and common areas for practical completion and smooth tenant/purchaser handover.

Health, Safety & Environment: Ensure all works comply with site safety plans, CDM regulations, and RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).Core RequirementsExperience: 3+ years as a Project Engineer / Site Engineer on medium-to-large-scale new build residential schemes (housing or multi-storey apartments).

Education:

Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or Building Services. Technical Skills: AutoCAD / Navisworks / BIM viewers; pro-active reading of construction drawings, structural detailing, and MEP layouts.

Key Knowledge: Strong understanding of current Building Regulations, structural interfaces, drylining/acoustic details, and building envelope systems.
