Are you a proactive and experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong background working for main contractors in highly regulated industries? We are seeking a talented Health & Safety Manager to join a leading, large-scale contractor as they embark on a flagship, nine-figure project with Thames Water in North London. This is a permanent, hybrid role offering a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact on a high-profile infrastructure project.
As Health & Safety Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across this significant Thames Water project and potentially other related works. You will work closely with the project team, supply chain, and client to foster a positive safety culture and ensure all activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project-specific Health & Safety Management System in line with company standards and legal requirements.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on all health, safety, and environmental matters to the project team and supply chain.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement effective control measures.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and the implementation of preventative actions.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training and inductions.
- Liaise effectively with the client, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Promote a proactive and positive safety culture across the project.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance against agreed targets.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Health & Safety professional with a proven track record of success within the construction industry. Significant experience working as a Health & Safety Manager for a main contractor. Demonstrable experience within a highly regulated industry such as water, infrastructure, oil & gas, nuclear, or similar. Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent). Excellent understanding of risk management principles and techniques. Based within commutable distance of North London and comfortable with hybrid working. Experience working on water treatment or other water infrastructure projects.
