Are you an experienced combustion or thermal process engineer? Do you consider yourself to be a subject matter expert in manufacturing combustion systems, COMAH compliance and control loop tuning?Are you based in or around Llanelli?A permanent opportunity for an experienced combustion or thermal process Engineer with tenure in the Heavy industry sector at the Trostre Steelworks. Tata Steel's historic Trostre Works manufactures over 400,000 tonnes of high-quality steel packaging every year. On this occasion, only applicants holding full Right To Work in the UK already in place can be considered. Role: Combustion Engineer Location: Tata Steel, Maes-Ar-Ddafen Road, Llanelli SA14 9SDSalary: competitive and based on experience Shifts: Mon-Fri (days) 36.5 hours per week Start: ASAP but pending the successful completion of a medical assessment, which does include a Drug and Alcohol testResponsibilities:Serving as the site technical authority for all manufacturing combustion systemsEvaluating unit capabilitiesDriving hazard identificationLeading COMAH, DSEAR/Ex (EIS 7), and environmental compliance strategiesLeading the end-to-end delivery of combustion system upgradesMaintaining standard operating proceduresEnsuring optimal control loop tuningManaging rigorous Management of Change (MOC) processes to guarantee alignment with internal QA and international safety standardsReliability & Maintenance OptimisationPartnering with the Energy & Environmental team to handle ISO 14001 compliance, EA permit reporting, and energy forecasting, while embedding best practice across all operating unitsProviding hands-on problem-solvingActing as the central point of contact for operational queries, and design training programs to elevate on-site technical competencyEssential requirements:Degree educated in a relevant Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience) Strong track record in heavy industry, ideally within Steel and Tinplate manufacturing operationPrevious experience within fault-finding of complex industrial gas, air, electrical, and instrumentation control systems as well as maintenance, and modification.IEMA Associate level (or equivalent knowledge)Expertise in managing air and water emissions, waste streams, site permits, and public health/environmental complianceProven ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable guidance for operators, engineers, and executive leadershipExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong industrial computing skillBenefits:Advice and editing on your current CVDedicated team throughout your journey within the rolePaid holidayExclusive online services including restaurant and retail discountsChance to receive 300* for referring a friendOpportunity for progression into permanent roles Competitive rates of pay Does this role sound interesting?
