Overview: My Client is a pioneer in the smart electric vehicle market, driving innovation in autonomous driving, digital technologies, and battery swapping. They are seeking a Technical Programme Engineer (TPE) to join their Vehicle Engineering team in Oxford. Within this organisation, the TPE is an adaptive professional who leads complex engineering projects from concept to completion. They are looking for a hungry, curious, and high-energy professional—ideally a junior or "Grad +2" level candidate—who is willing to manage ambiguity and deep-dive into technical areas. You will be mentored by the Chief Engineer and the Director of Tech Product while delivering strategic schemes of work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Oversee engineering projects from initial concept to final delivery, ensuring they meet deadlines, budget, and quality requirements.
- Technical Coordination: Act as a technical liaison between various departments (design, manufacturing, quality) and external suppliers.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate with internal teams and senior management to ensure alignment and manage expectations.
- Active Management: Actively manage programmes rather than just tracking deliverables for gateways.
- Problem-Solving: Apply creative and innovative engineering skills to devise solutions for unique design and project challenges.
- Risk & Budget Management: Conduct risk assessments, manage project budgets, and ensure technical and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience Level: This role is suitable for a junior or "Grad +2" candidate capable of starting within the next 4 weeks.
- Technical Expertise: A strong background in multi-disciplinary engineering and a willingness to "deep dive" into new technical areas.
- Communication: Ability to translate technical details to non-technical personnel and interact effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
- Industry Knowledge: Ideally someone who understands automotive programmes from "cradle to grave" and has worked within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
- Character: A self-starter with a "roll up your sleeves" mindset and the resilience to maintain momentum in a fast-paced environment.
Location & Travel Requirements:
- Office Base: Oxford, UK.
- Hybrid Working: Must be willing to be onsite 2-3 days per week in Oxford and have the ability to travel to customer sites in Leamington Spa, Warwick and Woking when needed.
- Travel: Ability to travel within the UK, EU, and China as required.
