About the Company:

Reading Scientific Services Ltd. (RSSL), part of Mondelez International, is a leading provider of scientific analysis, consultancy, product development, and training services to sectors including food, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. They are currently looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Microbiology Lab Technician to join the team for a 6-month contract.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated individual with a microbiology background to conduct routine laboratory testing. This role is lab-based and involves working on critical testing areas such as endotoxins, bioburdens, total viable count, and environmental monitoring. The position is weekends-only (Saturday & Sunday, 11am to 4pm), with the potential for additional weekday hours depending on availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine microbiological testing, including endotoxins, bioburdens, and total viable counts.
  • Perform environmental monitoring and maintain accurate records of all tests conducted.
  • Work in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and reliable results.
  • Document and report findings to senior laboratory staff and supervisors.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to lab improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A microbiology-related degree or currently studying microbiology or a similar field.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Availability to work every weekend (Saturday & Sunday, 11am – 4pm).

Training:

Full training will be provided (approximately 4 weeks of mid-week training). The training will cover the specifics of the role, and the more experience a candidate has, the less training may be required.

Additional Information:

This is a weekend-only role with potential additional weekday hours. Full-time hours are not guaranteed. The position is ideal for recent graduates, current students, or individuals with a strong microbiology background. Ideal candidates should be able to start ASAP. However, a notice period of up to 4 weeks can be accommodated.
