Pilot Plant Technician
Contract Duration: 9 months
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm

Are you a hands-on individual with a keen eye for detail, looking for a unique opportunity in food manufacturing research and development? Randstad is proud to be recruiting for two Pilot Plant Technicians to join Mondelez UK at their iconic Bournville site.
This is a fantastic chance to contribute to the development of new and exciting chocolate products, working in a dynamic pilot plant environment that mimics a mini-factory. You'll play a crucial role in bringing new innovations to life!
What you'll be doing:
As a Pilot Plant Technician, you'll split your time between practical work in the plant and essential administrative tasks in the office.
- Operating Pilot Plant Equipment: You'll be actively involved in making chocolate from scratch! This includes roasting cocoa beans, producing cocoa liquor, and making chocolate batches on a smaller scale (20kg to 80kg). This role involves a significant amount of manual handling .
- Data Management: In the office, you'll be responsible for accurately generating, collecting, and collating key project data from experiments. This includes processing, analytical, and consumer science data, using relevant internal systems.
- Learning and Development: You'll receive comprehensive training on all equipment and systems, ensuring you have the support needed to excel in your role.
What we're looking for:

- Practical Aptitude: A hands-on approach and comfort with operating manufacturing equipment are essential.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness is key for successful experimentation and accurate data capture.
- Self-Motivation: The ability to work independently and proactively once trained.
- Quick Learner: Eagerness and capacity to quickly pick up new practical skills and system knowledge.
- IT Skills: Good basic MS Office skills are required.
- Background:
- Ideally, you'll have a food-related or chemistry-related degree , and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Alternatively, if you have experience using manufacturing equipment , particularly within a catering or food manufacturing environment , we'd love to hear from you.
