About the School & Role
We are currently recruiting for a warm, inclusive, and forward-thinking mainstream community primary school located in the Wyre area. The school prides itself on providing a nurturing environment where every child is championed to reach their full potential.
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to cover sickness within their specialised KS1 SEN Hub, starting 6th November 2026.
This dedicated provision caters to 8 children with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will lead an exceptionally supportive, well-staffed team comprising 1 Teacher (you) and 3 experienced Teaching Assistants, ensuring high levels of individual care and tailored curriculum delivery.
While this class can be very challenging, it is equally incredibly rewarding. Trial days/sessions are being held immediately so you can experience the hub environment firsthand before starting!
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, adapt, and deliver a highly differentiated, sensory-rich curriculum tailored to the individual EHCP targets of 8 pupils.
- Lead and direct a team of 3 full-time Teaching Assistants, fostering a collaborative and calm classroom environment.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies and effective de-escalation techniques.
- Liaise closely with the school SENCo, parents, and external multi-agency professionals.
Skills & Personal Qualities Required
- Outstanding de-escalation techniques and the ability to maintain composure during challenging moments.
- Passionate about holistic progress, celebrating both micro-achievements and personal milestones.
- Skilled at adjusting lessons on the spot to meet shifting sensory and emotional needs.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven SEN experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with primary-aged pupils (KS1) with SEN/SEND (ASC, SEMH, SLD, or complex needs).
- Strong knowledge of adaptive teaching strategies, PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables (advantageous).
- An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
- Full eligibility to work in the UK
