We are partnering with a market leading telecommunications business in their search for a Finance Controls Manager. This is a 3 month temporary role based in Bristol offering hybrid working and a day rate of up to Β£510 per day via umbrella for the right candidate.
The Role
You will be accountable for the financial accounting and controls operations covering specific programmes. You will drive process standardisation, build greater trust in the numbers, and ensure robust corporate governance across complex contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Integrity & Close: Deliver accurate, fully compliant financial results into the General Ledger while driving process improvements to enable a faster month-end close.
- Technical Accounting: Prepare accounting papers, manage complex contract judgements, and provide expert advice on IFRS 16 (Leasing), IAS 37 re-assessments, deferred costs, and performance obligations.
- Financial Controls & Risk: Document, implement, and maintain effective financial processes and internal controls, driving standardisation and compliance.
- Audit & Governance: Manage audit processes and liaise with internal and external auditors to assure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Process Improvement: Act as a subject matter expert to streamline financial operations, enhance data insights, and align practices across a matrixed commercial environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent Qualified by Experience (QBE).
- Technical & Control Expertise: Deep knowledge of accounting principles, technical IFRS reporting, and a strong background in developing financial control frameworks.
- Commercial & Matrix Experience: Proven track record working within a complex, fast-paced, matrixed commercial organisation.
- Systems Proficiency: Hands-on knowledge of ERP systems (SAP is highly preferable) alongside strong data analysis skills.
- Background: Prior Audit or Big Four experience is highly desirable.
