About the Opportunity
Are you looking for the rare opportunity to build a massive system from the ground up? We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Insurance Offer team and spearhead a completely greenfield project using the latest cloud technologies.
In this role, you will be the driving force behind the development and advancement of our backend services for insurance offers. You will design eligibility and configuration logic, integrate with critical dependent systems, and ensure our production services remain highly reliable. If you thrive in environments where you can take end-to-end ownership and make foundational technical decisions, this is the team for you.
What You Will Do
As a Software Engineer II, you will work independently while shaping the technical direction of the team. You will be responsible for the development, performance, and scaling of services, components, and internal systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build & Own: Rapidly develop next-generation scalable, flexible, and high-performance systems with true end-to-end ownership. You will actively monitor, define, and adjust Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
- Troubleshoot & Prioritize: Solve complex issues across mobile apps, websites, and internal systems, prioritising your work based on direct customer and business impact.
- Collaborate & Translate: Act as a key intermediary for problem-solving, effectively communicating complex technical tradeoffs and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experiment & Validate: Build for scale and agility. We have thousands of experiments running concurrently that interact with each other; you will ensure our testing and deployment ecosystems are robust and safe.
- Architect & Innovate: Evaluate customer needs and design ideal technical solutions. You will assess different programming languages (e.g., Java, Perl, etc.), architectures, and risk factors to choose the right tool for the job.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer building and scaling high-performance backend systems.
- Experience working with modern cloud architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong understanding of observability, reliability engineering (SLIs/SLOs), and production monitoring.
- Experience dealing with highly concurrent systems and A/B testing or experimentation platforms.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution.
- A product-minded approach: you care just as much about the customer experience as you do about clean code.
Why Join Us?
- Greenfield Impact: Leave your mark by building a brand-new architecture free from legacy technical debt.
- Autonomy: We trust our engineers to make the right technical decisions and own their work.
- Modern Tech Stack: Work with the latest cloud technologies and continuously evaluate new tools.
